whatchu know about that…i know all about that.

england was great, lots of quality family time and it was neat to see all the same places as a grownup…kinda weird.

then home for a day and off to new york!

thanks to anyone and everyone who helped to make atltonyc possible, it was a really great trip and i know all of our eyes are more open now.  a quick rundown of the trip:

tuesday – left at 7 and drove all night

wednesday – got in about 9am, changed clothes and ran to the subway.  visited crush & lovely, smart design, and curve id.  all 3 very unique and interesting companies.

thursday – visited nulux lighting design, utleys model shop, rockwell design group, and ecco.  architectural lighting manufactured in an in-house factory, the most bad-a models you have ever seen, set design for the oscars, and pure product design.  how much more different and awesome can these places be? that night we went to an improv comedy show at the upright citizen’s brigade theater (it wasnt them, just their place).

friday – next day… material connexion, frog, core77, and a great guy from karim rashid’s studio.  i could spend days in material connexion just walking up and down the aisles touching everything and discovering something brand new every step.  then to a big corporation, a super fun blog office (that posted a picture of us sky fighting!), and a couple of little galleries.

saturday – a visit to the cooper hewitt museum where we saw an exhibition dedicated all to felt (funny b/c my sister and my boyfriend’s brother both have an irrational fear/hatred of felt so i immediately texted to tell them and took a nice picture of the sign outside).  i decided that i want my whole house furnished just like the cb2 store and i relearned that moleskines are kind of a ripoff (bigger and cheaper books at muji!)

sunday – drove drove drove all day (or maybe i should say rode rode rode all day)
